The Blessings of the Du’aa: "Radheetu Billahi Rabban"

Sayyidina Thaubaan (Radhiyallaahu Anhu) narrates that Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi wa Sallam) said:

"Whoever recites the above-mentioned Du’aa in the evening, it is a right upon Allah that He (Allah) pleases him." (Tirmidhi)

The Du’aa:

رَضِيتُ بِاللَّهِ رَبًّا وَبِا إ لِْ إ سلََمِ دِينًا وَبِمُحَ ه مدٍ نَبِيًّا

Translation: I am pleased with Allah as (my) Lord, with Islam as (my) religion, and with Mohammed as (my) Messenger.

Understanding the Du’aa

To be pleased with Allah as Lord: This means to accept that He is the One Allah who created us and cares for us, and to be pleased with all His decisions at all times.

To be pleased with Islam: This means accepting Islam as the chosen religion of Allah, happily accepting all its laws, and practicing it to the best of our ability.

To be pleased with Nabi Mohammed (Sallallaahu Alayhi wa Sallam) as the Messenger: While acknowledging all other Messengers of Allah, we believe Nabi Mohammed (Sallallaahu Alayhi wa Sallam) to be the final Messenger. He was chosen as the practical guide of Islam, and it is our duty to follow in his footsteps. The person who follows him will become the beloved of Allah.

If a person has these three qualities, Allah will become pleased with him and grant him so much reward that the person will also become happy and pleased. May Allah Ta’aala grant us all this type of belief, Aameen.

The Special Status of Our Ummah

We are very fortunate to be among the Ummah of Nabi Mohammed (Sallallaahu Alayhi wa Sallam). This Ummah is the most blessed, and our Nabi is the most beloved of Allah. According to the Ahaadeeth, he will be the leader of mankind on the Day of Qiyaamah, the first person to intercede, and his intercession will be the first to be accepted. Additionally, he will be the Nabi with the most followers. How fortunate we are to be his followers!

The door of Jannah will be opened first for him, and people from this Ummah will be the first to enter Jannah. However, all these benefits depend on love and obedience to Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi wa Sallam). Love for the Nabi is love for Allah. If we truly love Allah, then we will not hesitate to love and obey Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi wa Sallam).

Our Duty

It is our duty to recite Salawaat on Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi wa Sallam) regularly and in abundance. We should always say "Sallallaahu Alayhi wa Sallam" when hearing or taking his blessed name.

Hold firmly onto the Sunnah and become the beloved of Allah Ta’aala and His Rasool (Sallallaahu Alayhi wa Sallam). May Allah guide us towards His eternal pleasure. Aameen.

رَبَّنّا تّوّفَّنّا مُ أ سلِماً وَّ اَ أ لحِ أ قنَا بالصَّالِحِ أ ينَ
Translation: O Allah! Grant us our death as Muslims and join us with the pious ones. Aameen.
